Also note that the Caucus Image Archive is available now for viewing. Cork Caucus took the form of a major interdisciplinary, international meeting of 60-80 artists, thinkers, writers, philosophers and other creative individuals during the summer of 2005 and investigated cultural, political and artistic issues.
The intention of Cork Caucus was to stimulate the discursive environment within the city of Cork and to provide ways in which the ambition of art to intervene in social life and political thinking could begin to be realised. This was particularly significant given the Capital of Culture status of Cork, which provided a possible focus for culture to reach beyond its traditional interest groups. It is hoped that this model will impact on future activities and the way ongoing discourse operates within the city.
